New 7″ by The Suffers NOW AVAILABLE!

New 7″ featuring “Slow It Down” b/w “Step Aside”

In our endless support of all things Houston we bring you the new 7″ by the fantasticly-funky The Suffers!

Their new 7″ features two blistering tracks guaranteed to soundtrack your summer days and nights.  “Slow It Down” finds Kam Franklin leading the boys through soul shakedown perfectly blending their reggae & jazz influences.  While “Step Aside” sees a more traditional reggae sound with Pat Kelly taking over on lead vocals.  This sun soaked jam has the kind of sing-a-long appeal to be a big cross over hit.

Stop on by the shop for a listen and take home this 7″ TODAY!

The Ole’97 Must listen to LPs

When I first decided I wanted to get into vinyl, a close friend put together a list for me. This list contains albums that he had in his collection at the time. The list is made up of albums he said he could listen to over and over again. Having the list was a huge help and resource for me venturing into vinyl. 1 Yr Anniversary

I personally just wanted to thank everyone for showing up to our 1yr Anniversary and more importantly, supporting us in the past year. Without you, we’re not still here right now. Without you, we wouldn’t be already expanding the store. Without you, we wouldn’t be planning bigger things for 2013 that I hope will do our part supporting the Houston Creative Community.

There’s a fresh new vibe in Houston…I don’t know if the rest of you feel it, but it’s not something I EVER would have thought I’d feel when I left Houston 15 yrs ago.

It’s a selfless community, picking itself and others around them for greater goals. It’s connections for connections sake. It’s collaboration…it’s palatable.

I feel like we are at another one of those turning points in Houston history. Another grassroots ‘uplifting’ of community…and that all teeters on you. The people of Houston.

So…I’m off the soapbox now and done feeling sentimental. But the Energy is real. I wouldn’t live in another place right now.

Thank you Houston, for my best Birthday ever.
-Craig
